Location: Tillamook Head, Oregon, northward to Point Grenville, Washington
Year: 2014
Project Type(s): Sediment Remediation
Project Description: This restoration project sought to increase the amount of dredged sediment placed in the littoral zones of the Mouth of the Columbia River (MCR). In 2014, approximately 340,000 cubic yards (cy) of dredged material were placed in a nearshore site south of the South Jetty Site (SJS). Dredged material was mostly fine sand mixed with less than 3 percent of silt and clay. Due to the success of this project, another nearshore site was proposed for the disposal of dredged material in the MCR. In 2018, nine different 51,000 cy placements of dredged material were deposited in the North Head Site (NHS). The transect was monitored at 0 days, 7 days, and 60 days after dredged material placement.
