Project Description: The Grenlandsfjords, located in Southern Norway, are documented to be one of Europe’s most contaminated coastal areas with polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs). Due to the widespread contamination of the fjord, this area was selected for thin-layer capping. A large scale, in-situ field experiment was conducted applying a thin-layer cap at the site. The thin-layer cap materials consisted activated carbon (AC) mixed with clean clay and dredged material. For this site, thin-layer capping was conducted at water depths greater than 30 m.
